2010 Austin City Limits Music Festival

Taking place over three days, and featuring more than 130 bands performing on eight stages, the 2010 Austin City Limits Music Festival promises music-lovers a line-up worth traveling for. From the 8th to the 10th of October 2010, Zilker Park in the heart of Austin, Texas, is set to be the venue for the non-stop party this annual music festival has come to be known for. The festival has come a long way since it started in 2002, and this year’s lineup includes world-class headliners alongside budding talent, over a range of genres that’s sure to keep everyone happy. The program includes the legendary Eagles, Phish, Muse, Strokes, M.I.A, Spoon, Norah Jones, Band of Horses and Robert Earl Keen. ACL debut performances include Broken Bells, Girls, and the Temper Trap.

Dizzee Rascal to Be Awarded

One of the most well known charities in the United Kingdom is Nordoff Robbins. This organization welcomes individuals of all ages, using the art of music making to encourage those with disabilities or illnesses to express themselves. Music therapy was first explored by Paul Nordoff, a composer and pianist from America, and together with Clive Robbins, a form of therapy was created to assist those in need of mental stimulation of therapeutic benefit. These sessions assist with general wellbeing and social interaction, resulting in an increase in confidence, both emotionally and physically. Each year, this organization also hosts the O2 Silver Clef Awards, with Dizzee Rascal being a recipient this year.

Known as a dedicated Civil Rights activist, singer and actress, Lena Horne made her mark by fighting for her individuality and showcasing her extraordinary talent. Sadly, this magnificent icon passed away on 9 May 2010, in New York, at the age of 92. Now, looking back at a career that lasted approximately sixty years, the world pays tribute to Lena Horne and her numerous achievements.
