Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto

The Kiwanis Club of Toronto is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and the youth, and trying to assist communities in building a future for their children. Many talented young people are cheated of the opportunity to pursue their creative abilities and musical fortes because of a lack of funds and support. The Kiwanis Club of Toronto consists of professionals, educational representatives and entrepreneurs who work together to find and develop opportunities and projects to enhance the future of the community and their children. And one of the noteworthy projects that has stemmed from this mission is the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto.

Function of the American Federation of Musicians

The idea of having a society or union to protect the interests of musicians and to aid them while developing their careers started in the 1800s. Musicians realized that they needed financial assistance and insurance against illness or any situation that might render them unable to perform, leading to a loss of income. The first form of this was the Mutual Aid Societies. Unfortunately, competition was cut throat to retain clients, which eventually led to a meeting between the unions and the decision to create one central body. In 1896, the American Federation of Musicians was formed, with the first president being Owen Miller, who presided over the establishment until 1900.

Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame

The Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame is overseen by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The academy is focused on promoting Canadian music and artists, and started the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame in 1978 to honor those who contribute to the music industry. By contribution, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences looks at musicians, producers, songwriters and everyone involved in the industry, who have assisted in the development and the growth of the Canadian music industry. And so far many icons and famous names have found their way into the annals of history.

The Year-long Breckenridge Music Festival

Dr. Kenneth Evans was the visionary behind the establishment of the Breckenridge Music Festival in the year 1981. As the Executive Director and the Conductor of the Breckenridge Music Festival, Dr. Evans, together with the support and assistance of his wife, was able to nurture the organization into a well-known and respected music association.
