The Earworm Phenomenon

How many of us find ourselves humming the same tune over and over each day, or not being able to get a song out of our heads? Each day, it is estimated that more than ninety percent of the population experience this phenomenon that is referred to as an earworm. It is a song or jingle we have heard on the radio that we just cannot stop ourselves from singing for the rest of the day. Recently scientists have researched this occurrence, with very interesting results. It now seems that the perfect song or jingle can unknowingly be created, so that listeners cannot forget the tune.

John Lennon Tributes

John Lennon is remembered as one of the world's most iconic musicians. He made a global impact on the music industry during his times. Becoming known to the world through his years with the famous group The Beatles, and then moving on to a very successful solo career, Lennon captured the imaginations and hearts of thousands of fans worldwide. The past weekend was a time of celebration and sadness, as the music industry joined together to honor Lennon on the 9th of October 2010, which marks what would have been his 70th birthday.

Tribute to Charles Haddon

From the creative and artistic roots of Camden, in London, a band by the name of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool developed into a well known international group. Even though their fame was short lived, they made a noticeable impact on the music industry, making appearances at various music festivals and on the charts. Unfortunately tragedy struck the band on 20 August 2010, when lead singer Charles Haddon committed suicide at the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium. It is a loss that is heartfelt by family, friends and fans.

Wyclef Jean Aiming for Haiti Presidency

Wyclef Jean is known throughout the world as a successful recording artist, musician and record producer, with albums such as Masquerade, The Preacher’s Son and The Carnival making a huge impact in the music industry. His collaborations with musicians such as Shakira and Akon, and his involvement with The Fugees has also earned him great respect as a musician. Wyclef Jean has now set his sights on running for President of Haiti. The announcement has only recently been released, with the looming elections taking place on 28 November 2010.
