Global Icon Award for Bon Jovi

In 1994 the MTV Europe Music Awards were established to honor and celebrate all international music videos that are popular across Europe. The winners of the awards are selected by the voting public, and each year the host city of the ceremony changes. Over the years countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom have had the honor of hosting the event, and for the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards, Madrid in Spain has been selected. The award evening will be held on 7 November 2010, and the most anticipated award, the Global Icon Award, will be handed to Bon Jovi this year.

Music New Brunswick Awards

The very first Music New Brunswick Awards ceremony was hosted in the Crowne Plaza located in Moncton, Canada, on Saturday, 9 October 2010, and was a very memorable event for everyone involved. It was felt that there was so much established talent and developing talent in the New Brunswick region, that it was time to bring recognition and honor to the artists and members of the music industry by establishing an award exclusively for them. With the success and praise recieved in regard to the awards and its ceremony, it is believed that this event will grow and develop positively every year.

2010 IBMA Winners

The 2010 International Bluegrass Music Awards was a night to remember, as surprises and unexpected winners filled the evening. Some of the winners did not imagine they could win two years in a row, but there were a few who managed to make it onto the winners list again, with a number of newcomers and favorites. The awards were created to promote and develop bluegrass and to bring recognition to those who contribute greatly to the music industry. On 30 September 2010, deserving winners stepped onto the stage to be honored and commended for their efforts.

Polaris Prize for Karkwa

In 2006 the Polaris Music Prize was inaugurated to pay tribute to Canadian musicians. A jury is selected to award the prize to the artist or group they think are most deserving. The artistic merit of the group is the most important to the jury, and features such as sales and genre are not taken into consideration. Based on the well known Mercury Prize, the Polaris Music Prize included a cash prize of C$20 000. At this year’s awards ceremony, which was hosted on Monday, 20 September 2010, the band Karkwa were awarded this prestigious prize.
