MTV Europe Music Awards Nominees Announced

Set to take place at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on November 10, the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards have published nominees, with fans no doubt ready to support their favorite performers by voting online. Justin Timberlake has been nominated in five categories – Best Male, Best Look, Best Live, Best US Act and Best Video – while rapper Macklemore and DJ Ryan Lewis have been nominated for Best Song, Best US Act, Best New, Best World Stage and Best Hip Hop. In spite of (or maybe because of) her controversial performance of her single We Can't Stop at the 2013 MTV VMA, Miley Cyrus has been nominated for Best Female, Best US Act, Best Pop and Best Video. Other nominees include Green Day, Black Sabbath, 30 Seconds to Mars, Linkin Park, Queens of the Stone Age and the Killers.

Music Masters Series Honors Rolling Stones

Running from October 21 through to October 26, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 18th Annual Music Masters Series will be honoring the long and successful career of the Rolling Stones. Under the banner of "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It): The Music of the Rolling Stones" the event will feature interviews, films, panel discussions and a conference at Rock Hall focusing on the influence the legendary group has had on pop music. The Rolling Stones were inducted Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and are currently being honored with an exhibit at Rock Hall entitled "The Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction". The exhibit opened in May and continues until March 2014.

Music Industry Trusts Award Honors Annie Lennox

The Music Industry Trusts Award has selected Annie Lennox as the recipient of its 22nd award, saluting her noteworthy contribution to British music and her outstanding work as a philanthropist. Its involvement in charity work sets the Music Industry Trusts Award apart from other awards in the music industry and recipients of the award are chosen for both their musical achievements and their commitment to bettering the lives of others. With more than a thousand guests attending the annual awards gala dinner, considerable funds are raised for the BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins.

Six Tony Awards for Cyndi Lauper’s Musical

Continuing with a successful career that has spanned five decades, Cyndi Lauper's musical Kinky Boots picked up six Tony Awards this month – Best Musical, Best Leading Man, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations and Best Sound Design. In addition to thanking the Kinky Boots cast and crew and her family (particularly her mother), Lauper thanked New York City noting that its citizens are hardworking, which is an inspiration to her. Based on real events, Kinky Boots tells the story of a factory owner who turns to making fetish footwear for cross-dressers in an effort to save his failing business. While initial reviews following the opening of the musical in Chicago in October 2012 were mixed, clearly the show has garnered fans in the right places.
