Music Masters Series Honors Rolling Stones

Running from October 21 through to October 26, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 18th Annual Music Masters Series will be honoring the long and successful career of the Rolling Stones. Under the banner of "It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It): The Music of the Rolling Stones" the event will feature interviews, films, panel discussions and a conference at Rock Hall focusing on the influence the legendary group has had on pop music. The Rolling Stones were inducted Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and are currently being honored with an exhibit at Rock Hall entitled "The Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction". The exhibit opened in May and continues until March 2014.

Music Industry Trusts Award Honors Annie Lennox

The Music Industry Trusts Award has selected Annie Lennox as the recipient of its 22nd award, saluting her noteworthy contribution to British music and her outstanding work as a philanthropist. Its involvement in charity work sets the Music Industry Trusts Award apart from other awards in the music industry and recipients of the award are chosen for both their musical achievements and their commitment to bettering the lives of others. With more than a thousand guests attending the annual awards gala dinner, considerable funds are raised for the BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins.

Six Tony Awards for Cyndi Lauper’s Musical

Continuing with a successful career that has spanned five decades, Cyndi Lauper's musical Kinky Boots picked up six Tony Awards this month – Best Musical, Best Leading Man, Best Original Score, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations and Best Sound Design. In addition to thanking the Kinky Boots cast and crew and her family (particularly her mother), Lauper thanked New York City noting that its citizens are hardworking, which is an inspiration to her. Based on real events, Kinky Boots tells the story of a factory owner who turns to making fetish footwear for cross-dressers in an effort to save his failing business. While initial reviews following the opening of the musical in Chicago in October 2012 were mixed, clearly the show has garnered fans in the right places.

Fleetwood Mac on Tour

As a band, Fleetwood Mac has had a long and successful career since its formation in London in 1967. The relationship between band members has been tumultuous at times, with some of its best music coming out of conflict. Named for original band members Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, the band has had a number of changes in its line-up, with the unique vocals of Stevie Nicks becoming an undeniable hallmark of Fleetwood Mac. So when the band (John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood) reunited on stage, it was no surprise that the 'songbird' stole the show, showing the audience that while decades may have passed, none of her star quality has faded.

2013 BBMA Nominations

With Tracy Morgan of 30 Rock fame as host, the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, set to take place on May 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, will feature a host of collaborative acts as part of the entertainment lineup. A special surprise guest will join Christina Aguilera and Pitbull to perform Feel This Moment; Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez will join forces on Live It Up; Justin Bieber and Will.I.Am will collaborate on The Power; Ne-Yo, David Guetta and Akon will perform Play Hard; and Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj will team up on High School.
