Every year MTV hosts the most amazing award shows, where the best in the business come out and strut their stuff as they are rewarded for their years of hard work in the entertainment industry. This year will be no different and the MTV VMA Nominees have already been announced.

The award ceremony is set to be a kicker with plenty of live music and great celebrities taking center stage. British actor/comedian Russell Brand has been brought in for the occasion and his zany attitude will no doubt serve to compliment the Video Music Awards perfectly. He will be joined on the stage by the likes of Pink, Paramore, Rihanna and many other hot music artists as they provide great entertainment during the course of the show.

So who are the nominees? The choices for Best Rock Video are: Fall Out Boy for “Beat It”, Foo Fighters for “The Pretender”, Linkin park for “Shadow of the Day”, Paramore for “crushcrushcrush” and Slipknot for “psychosocial” – all very hot videos and songs in their category at the moment. The contenders for Best Video Of The Year are: Chris Brown with “Forever”, Jonas Brothers with “Burnin Up”, Pussycat Dolls with “When I Grow Up”, Britney Spears with “Piece of Me” and The Ting Tings with “Shut Up and Let Me Go”. The nominees for Best Dancing in a Video are: Chris Brown’s “Forever”, Danity Kane’s “Damaged”, Madonna’s “4 Minutes”, Ne-Yo’s “Closer” and Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up”. Mary J. Blige (Just Fine), Lupe Fiasco (Superstar), Flo Rida (Low), Lil Wayne (Lollipop) and Kanye West (Homecoming) are the contenders for Best Hip Hop Video; while Danity Kane (Damaged), Jonas Brothers (Burnin Up), Panic At The Disco (Nine In The Afternoon), Britney Spears (Piece of Me) and Tokio Hotel (Ready, Set, Go!) battle it out for the title of Best Pop Video.

The competition for the categories Best Male and Best Female Video are always fierce and this year is no exception. Chris Brown (With You), Flo Rida (Low), Lil Wayne (Lollipop), T.I. (No Matter What) and Usher (Love In This Club) will be battling it out for Best Male Video; while Mariah Carey (Touch My Body), Katy Perry (I Kissed A Girl), Rihanna (Take A Bow), Jordin Sparks (No Air) and Britney Spears (Piece of Me) are the nominees for Best Female Video.

This year marks the 25th annual MTV Video Music Awards and they will be taking place on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 21:00.
