Savannah Music Festival in Georgia

Every music lover in Georgia, and other regions, is looking forward to the 2008 Savannah Music Festival which is going to be held between the 20th of March and the 5th of April 2008. It is known to be the biggest and most diverse music festival in the region, and the year, and attracts hundreds of audience members each year. The Savannah Music Festival aims to raise awareness and expose the public to all music genres, and hopefully inspire young talent to enter the world of music.

This magnificent music extravaganza includes a wide variety of music genres in its program, such as Jazz, Bluegrass, Southern Traditional Folk, Latino, African, Vocal, Blues, Flamenco, Dance, Cajun, Gospel and many more. Artists who have confirmed their attendance and performance at the festival include: the Blind Boys of Alabama, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Ivan Chan, Bob Brozman, Philip Dukes, Stewart Copeland, Emerson String Quartet, Annika Hope, Bela Fleck, Roland Guerin, Carl Leyland, Buster Keaton, Bruce Hornsby, Mike Mattison, Antonio Pitingo, Ricky Skaggs, Marcus Printup, Sparrow Quartet, Todd Williams, Derek Trucks, and the Sweet Singing Harmony Harmoneers.

Other attractions at the festival are the spectacular line-up of interactive activities. The public is encouraged and requested to join the wonderful dance programs, workshops, presentations and master classes that are offered at the Savannah Music Festival. This year especially, the festival is aiming to reach more than the nineteen thousand children that it did in 2007, and have concentrated their efforts to include performances and demonstrations that children will enjoy and use as inspiration to develop their musical talents. Artists such as the Les Ballets Africans, the Atlanta Opera Studio and Daniel Hope will leave the youth spellbound and excited about their futures.

This anticipated event also launches a new initiative this year – the Swing Central High School Jazz Band Competition. A workshop will also be held in conjunction with the competition and has received a lot of interest from jazz bands all over the country. Both the competition and the workshop will be held on the 3rd of April and will hopefully bring recognition and greater interest to jazz bands everywhere.

For an unforgettable experience of music, attractions and activities, the Savannah Music Festival will not disappoint visitors. It has something for every music taste and opens the doors to new genres, introducing the public to various music styles and featuring breathtaking instrumental performances. It is most definitely the venue where all musical talents and genres combine to create a world of music magic!
