Tokio Hotel Tours America

Fans of the German group Tokio Hotel will be really excited to learn that the band is getting ready to tour the U.S. The band, which was formed in Magdeburg, Germany, in 2001, has already enjoyed four number one singles during the course of their career. Now they have their sights set on conquering U.S. audiences and they look set to achieve their goal.

Tokio Hotel may seem targeted mainly at Emo or even Goth-type audiences, but really their sound is something that crosses boundaries and will appeal to quite a wide audience. The four members of the band, Tom Kaulitz (guitar), Bill Kaulitz (singer), Gustav Schäfer (drums) and Georg Listing (bass-guitar), got together in 2001 after a show in the Magdeburg club and formed the group known today as Tokio Hotel. Initially they called themselves Devilish but the name changed to Tokio Hotel shortly after they signed with Sony BMG. Unfortunately their stint with Sony wasn’t long, but it seems that the Universal Music Group was quick to pick up the pieces and the rest is history, as they say. The teen quartet is now one of the biggest acts from Germany. They have released four number one singles and two number one albums in Germany, with almost 5 million CDs and DVDs being sold in their homeland. Their first German-language album, “Schrei” has achieved widespread success, with more than half a million copies of the album having been sold world-wide. Their first English-language album, “Scream” has combined album sales of over one million copies worldwide. This led to them enjoying the honor of receiving an MTV European Music Award before going on to enjoy even bigger record sales.

If you’ve heard their sound you’ll know why they’re so popular. Their stylistic ‘edge’ and carefully chosen lyrics speak volumes to the masses and are easily identifiable. If you haven’t heard them yet, do yourself a favor and spend a few minutes listening to one of their albums. Their vibe is catchy and you’ll find yourself trying to rock along even if you don’t know the song because of their recognizable feel. The band will touring the states in August, stopping in Sayreville, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Cleaveland, Detroit, Chicago, St. Paul, San Francisco, Anaheim, Denver, Dallas and Houston before heading home again. This is bound to be a great tour that you wont want to miss out on!
