Vodafone Live Music Awards

In a night to remember, an exciting and diverse cross-section of the pop world came together to see who would be winning what at the Vodafone Live Music Awards. The award ceremony was every bit as glamorous and exciting as it should have been and many big names from the music industry were present at the event.

For a change the line-up at the show was a bit different from what we’ve been seeing at music award ceremonies of late. Instead of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, the Vodafone Live Music Awards chose to pay tribute to the likes of Primal Scream and The Spice Girls. Their selection of award winners was diverse and well-chosen and it seems that for once someone put their thinking caps on and took a look at the music industry’s bigger picture. Mark Ronson took the trophy for best live male artist, while Kate Nash took the trophy for best live female artist. T in the Park won the 4Music Festival of the Year trophy, while the Ting Tings won XFM Live Breakthrough Act. Kiddo360 took home the Live and Unsigned Awards, while Kings of Leon took Best International Live Act and the Spice Girls won Best Live Return. The choice to give the Spice Girls the prize was somewhat unexpected since their re-emergence onto the music scene comes just ahead of the regrouping of legendary band Led Zeppelin. At the end of the evening, however, it was Scottish band Primal Scream that took home the most honours, receiving the award from Best Live Act and Outstanding Contribution to Live Music. The Take That Arena Tour was chosen for the Sony Ericsson Tour of The Year.

The star-studded event saw live performances by artists such as the Pussycat Dolls, James Morrison, Estelle, Glasvegas and Kelly Rowland. There was certainly not a dull moment at the Vodafone Live Music Awards. The ceremony took place on September 18 and a number of other noteworthy celebrities, such as Daisy Lowe and Emma Bunton, also attended. If you haven’t already caught all the glitz and glamour you’ll have to try your utmost to find recorded snippets of the fun-filled evening.
