Nominations for BT Digital Music Awards Released
British Telecommunications recently released the nomination list for the 2008 BT Digital Music Awards. As usual the competition is fierce and there is a great mixture of music styles, artists and music.
There are nineteen different awards categories for the 2008 BT Digital Music Awards. Of these Artist of the Year is probably the most sought after. Last year the winner of this much coveted award was Funeral For A Friend. This year the top contenders are Kylie, Radiohead, Coldplay, British Sea Power and Leona Lewis. It’s hard to tell who will end up the winner of the award but fans will undoubtedly argue in favor of their favorite artist. So far its Kylie Minogue and Bloc Party who have the most nominations, as both of them are tied at three nominations each. Kylie has been nominated for Best Pop Artist, Artist of the Year and Best Innovation for her Kylie Konnect fan networking website. Block Party have been nominated for Best Rock/Indie Artist, Best Artist Promotion and Best Music Community.
The categories for this year’s BT Digital Music Awards are as follows: Best Pop Artist, Best Rock/Indie Artist, Best Urban Artist, Best Electronic Artist or DJ, Best Podcast (video and audio), Best Radio Station, Best Music Store, Best Music Magazine, Best Music Community, Best Artist Promotion, Best Digital Service in association with BT Total Broadband, Best Mobile Campaign, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Innovation, Best Music Hardware. The Peoples Choice Awards categories are Best Unofficial Music Site, Best Music Blog and Best Official Music Site and the nominees for these categories will be announced on October 1st.
The award ceremony is set to take place at Camden’s Roundhouse on Wednesday October 1st. If you are not one of the lucky ones who get to attend the ceremony, you will be able to catch all the action when it is broadcast on ITV2 on October 7th. So set a reminder on you phone, write the date in your diary or set your machine to record but make sure that you don’t miss out on this year’s BT Digital Music Award ceremony.
