Academy of Country Music Awards Bash

Eddie Dean was one of the members of the music industry that were instrumental in the establishing of the Academy of Country Music in the year 1964. Because the Country Music Association was located in Nashville, an institute was needed to promote country music in the western state of America, and the Academy of Country Music filled the gap. The very first awards evening was hosted in 1965 and has been a prestigious annual event ever since. This year, on 3 April 2011, the 46th annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be honoring the artists of today.

There are two awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards that all musicians hope for, namely the Entertainer of the Year Award and the Artist of the Decade. Due to the awards being held in the beginning of a year, the awards are given for the previous year’s performances. For example, the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards will be for achievements in 2010. It is not only the awards that lure music fans to this event but also the magnificent concert that is hosted. This year Las Vegas will be the venue for the event, with Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire as hosts and Sugarland as the headliner. The ACM Fan Jam gives music fans the opportunity to see some of their favorite bands in live action, and will be held in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, while the awards ceremony will take place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Tickets to the event have already gone on sale and nominees for the various awards will be announced on 1 February 2011.

During the ACM Fan Jam, live feeds of the awards will be available, as well as performances by upcoming bands and special prizes and gifts, such as merchandise, trip packages and even signed guitars. Tickets to this fabulous event are usually sold out within minutes of going on sale as fans do not want to miss out on an evening that is filled with entertainment, fun and glamour. CEO of the Academy of Country Music, Bob Romeo, was quoted as saying, “With Sugarland’s help, the Academy is answering the demand of more and better access to the Awards show with the Fan Jam, with a family-friendly ticket price and a promise that this experience will be like no other in ACM Awards history.”
