Canadian Music Week 2008
The Canadian Music Week is known as a musical extravaganza of magnificent proportions that lasts for four days. This annual event is supported by hundreds of influential personalities in the music industry and those who want to be noticed by them. This year, the Canadian Music Week Festival celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary and is already gearing up for the twenty sixth festival, which to take place from the 5th of March 2008 until the 8th of March 2008.
With the first Canadian Music Week being held in the year 1981, it is one of the oldest festivals of its kind and has grown into one of the most significant music events of the year. It is not only a celebration of music and new talent, but it also builds up strong relationships between the various sectors of the industry and exhibits the latest technology and developments in music. It is a wonderful networking opportunity and more than three hundred and sixty experts and over three thousand of the leading industry moguls in the world attend the festival.
During the day, conferences, workshops and meetings fill the schedules of those attending the Canadian Music Week Festival, and at night visitors can look forward to four evenings of music, showcasing more than five hundred talented bands and musicians that entertain the crowds at forty different venues across Toronto. Various genres that appeal to everyone’s music taste are included in the line-up. This event is a valuable opportunity for new bands to be seen and recognised in the industry. Even though the line-up for the 2008 Canadian Music Week has not been released yet, it is guaranteed to be spectacular, especially as bands such as Wintersleep, Priestess, Ian Thornley, Alanis Morissette, Fat Boy Slim, The Pretenders, Barenaked Ladies, Daniel Johnson and many others have performed at past festivals. And between rubbing shoulders with the heavy weights of music and enjoying the live entertainment, there are a few awards evenings to look forward to.
The Indies Music Awards will take place on Saturday the 8th of March 2008, the Canadian Music Industry Awards is hosted on Thursday the 6th of March 2008, the Canadian Radio Music Awards on Friday 7 March 2008, and the Crystal Awards on the 6th of March 2008. The 2008 Canadian Music Week is set to be an event that is jam packed with activities and shows. It is an amazing opportunity for musicians, the public and members of the industry, to advertise themselves, educate others regarding their companies and products, and to simply get together to enjoy the industry that entertains the world in all its shapes and forms.
