First Ever Heavenly Planet Festival
Renowned event organizers Festival Republic have joined forces with the Reading Borough Council to bring an all-new, all-exciting music festival to the little town of Reading. Previously this sleepy little burrow has been playing host to two noteworthy events, namely the Reading Music Festival and WOMAD Reading. Now it seems all that is about to change.
While WOMAD Reading has been moved to a bigger venue after 17 successful years in the town of Reading, the old Reading Music Festival is about to be blown away by a new event called the Heavenly Planet Festival. Until now the Reading Music Festival has largely been considered to be the second largest music festival in the UK. However the new Heavenly Planet Festival looks set to become the biggest all-weather international music festival in the country. The festival will not only be held in Reading, but will see another phase of the festivities taking place in Palermo, Sicily. The idea behind the concept is to combine world-class music with other elements of the entertainment and art industry, including the spoken word and live comedy acts. The various elements of the festival should all help to make it truly unique.
The Heavenly Planet Festival in Reading is designed to cater to both the mind and the senses and will offer a full, fresh and dynamic program of events. Festival goers are encouraged to keep an open mind and enjoy the feast of culture, music and society. While music will obviously form a key part of the event, there are other great things to look forward to, such as debate, poetry readings, radio drama and great food. There should be a definite fusion of international tastes, trends and styles, and festival goers will find there is something for everyone.
Moreover the fact that it is an all-weather festival is somewhat unique and beneficial. It is the first all-weather festival to be held in the UK and festival goers will be protected from any less-than-ideal weather conditions by three large undercover arenas. Up to 10 000 festival goers will be able to find space at this beautiful Thames River-side location and people of all ages are invited to come and experience the event. The Heavenly Planet Festival will even offer visitors camping facilities, great shopping opportunities, a covered food court and a swimming pool set in the midst of a striking promenade for those with a romantic side. The UK leg of the Heavenly Planet Festival in Reading will take place from July 10-12, 2009. Make sure you don’t miss out!
