Lincoln Park Music Festival
The Lincoln Park Music Festival will no doubt continue to deliver the great music experience that it has become renowned for over the last three years. This massive music concert, held in Newark, New Jersey, will start on July 25 and combine the best of music, history and green living in one amazing annual event.
Established just three years ago to rock and educate the Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD), the Lincoln Park Music Festival features concert performances by music legends from every one of the four genres of African American music. These include gospel, house, jazz and hip-hop. In doing so it also crosses age and cultural barriers. The event, which will officially open at 11am on Friday July 25 with a press conference in Lincoln Park, will likely see an estimated 50,000 people turning up to participate in the weekend’s revelries. Headline performers that have already been booked to play include James Moody, KRS One and The Clark Sisters. The festival is officially titled: “Lincoln Park Music Festival: A Celebration of Spirit and Dance” and sees a lot of collaboration and interaction between musicians, dancers and artists. People from around the country come to make the most of the event and to experience the Lincoln Park eco urban arts district.
For many perhaps the best aspect of the four-day festival, is that it is free. Designed mainly to revitalize and energize the Lincoln Park community, every effort is made to ensure that it is well supported. Those looking to get a headstart on the weekend’s festivities will enjoy the two-day Jazz Series which will start on July 24 with a jazz photography exhibit entitled ‘Music Speaks’. Other exciting facets of the weekend are athletic clinics for youths, international food stalls, an organic farmers market, a live artist painting exhibit, arts and crafts vendors and the Green Sustainable Market Place which will be sponsored by Home Depot. The weekend’s events will close with an Old School Hip Hop Concert which will take place on Sunday July 27 between 12 – 8 pm. So make sure that you don’t miss out on this spectacular event – and get to Lincoln Park from July 24-27!
