Southern California Holiday Season Concerts

Music venues throughout Southern California are preparing to serve up a musical feast this holiday season, starting with the 82nd Hollywood Christmas Parade on December 2. With proceeds going to Toys for Tots, the parade will be hosted by Hollywood celebrities Eric Estrada, Dean Cain, Laura McKenzie and Montel Williams, with astronaut Buzz Aldrin serving as the parade’s Grand Marshall. Headliners slated to perform at the event include Leann Rimes, Stevie Wonder, The GooGoo Dolls, Kenny Loggins, Richi Sambora, Daughtry, McClain and Billy Ray Cyrus. The Hollywood Christmas Parade starts at the Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, continues left into Vine Street and left again into Sunset Boulevard. Grandstand seating offering an unrestricted view of the parade can be booked via ticketmaster.

Taking place on December 6 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball 2013 is set to be hosted by Ryan Seacrest with the program including performances by Selena Gomez, Robin Thicke, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Fifth Harmony, Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo and Travie McCoy. The KIIS FM Jingle Ball Village will be open to the public between 3pm and 7pm where music-lovers will have the opportunity to view live music and mingle with performers. $1 of every ticket sold will go to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation which promotes entertainment and educational programs for children.

The 24th annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas is set to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday and Sunday, Dec 7-8. Headliners on Saturday night include Kings of Leon, AFI and Queens of the Stone Age, while Sunday’s lineup includes Phoenix, Arcade Fire and Lorde. Charities benefiting from the event are Para Los Niños and the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, both of which provide support to children.

Other events to look forward to are Rockapella at the Beckman Auditorium in Pasadena on Saturday December 7; The Young Americans holiday special at La Mirada Theater on December 13; Christmas Out Loud at the Grace First Presbyterian Church, in Studebaker Road, Long Beach, on December 14-15; and The Brian Setzer Orchestra‘s Christmas Rocks! on December 21 at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles.
