Basement Jaxx Tour UK

UK house duo Basement Jaxx have been pretty quiet since their last tour two years ago. They released just one single, “Hey U”, in 2007 and fans haven’t heard much from them since. Now it seems the pair are set to take their home country by storm once more as they announce plans to tour the UK in conjunction with the release of a new studio album early next year.

Basement Jaxx started life in Brixton, South London, in 1994, where band members Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe held a regular club night called Rooty. Their catchy house music quickly gained popularity and by the end of the year the pair were able to release their first single, “Star/Buddy”. Their next single, “Samba Magic”, came out two years later in 1996 and the following year they released “Fly Life”. After that it seems they spent the next two years putting together the three songs that were eventually released on their first album “Remedy”. The album was very successful and catapulted them into the limelight. The song “Red Alert” was used in several TV airings while the song “Rendez Vu” made it to number 4 on the UK music chart – the group’s highest chart entry to date. Since then they have released several other albums, namely “Rooty”, “Kish Kash”, “Basement Jaxx: The Singles” and “Crazy Itch Radio”. The two have become so popular in recent years that they have worked on a number of remixes with other popular artists such as Missy Elliot, Justin Timberlake and N.E.R.D. Other artists have also expressed interest in collaborating with Basement Jaxx in the future.

Fans of the band no doubt can’t wait to hear their new album, but they’ll have to wait until it is released early next year. In the meantime they can start making plans to catch their tour. Basement Jaxx will be in Manchester Apollo on February 11 & 12, Glasgow Academy on February 13, Newcastle Academy on February 14, Leeds Academy on February 15, Edinburgh Corn Exchange on February 17, Birmingham Academy on February 18 & 19 and the London Roundhouse on February 20 & 21.
