Fans of the Gym Class Heroes living in the UK will be excited to learn that their favorite band will be heading to the UK for a massive tour of the country in September. The group, recorded by Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen, already have a massive following world-wide, so they will no doubt enjoy quite a large following as they zip around the country playing a series of headline gigs.

For those of you who have been living in a cave the last few years, the Gym Class Heroes is an American band that has been hitting the top of the charts globally for quite some time already. Originally from Geneva, New York, the group formed in 1997 when Travis “Schleprok” McCoy (vocals) and Matt McGinley (drummer) met and decided to form a band. They soon invited guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo and Bassist Eric Roberts to join and before long Gym Class Heroes was born. The group signed with Decaydance Records with whom they soon released the album ‘As Cruel As School Children’. The album went gold and put the band on the map. Songs like ‘Cupid’s Chokehold’ reached Number 4 on the Billboard hot 1000 while ‘Clothes Off!’ made it to Number 5 on the UK Singles Chart. What sets the Gym Class Heroes apart from a number of other current hip hop artists is that they prefer to use live instrumentation when creating their music. In this respect they are similar to other legendary groups such as The Roots, N.E.R.D, Flobots and Crown City Rockers. The group has also enjoyed a few collaborations with other artists, such as Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy who did backing vocals on ‘Cupid’s Chokehold’.

Their UK Tour comes in the wake of the release of their fourth album, ‘The Quilt’, which will be released on September 8th. The Quilt is the first album the band has released since their last success with ‘As Cruel As School Children’ in 2006. The new album will feature collaborations with names such as Cool & Dre, Patrick Stump, Busta Rhymes, Estelle and Daryl Hall. During the course of their tour they will be showcasing a number of the tracks from their new album. The tour will start on 16 September at the Manchester Academy before moving to London Astoria, Birmingham Academy and Bristol Academy throughout the course of the month. Tickets are already on sale and for those who can’t wait, the single ‘Cookie Jar’ from their new album will be released digitally on August 25th. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to see Gym Class Heroes live!
