Nominees for Urban Music Awards 2010
Annually the Urban Music Awards pay tribute to the talents of artists and musicians, with ceremonies taking place in various countries, such as Japan, the United Kingdom, France and the United States of America. It is anticipated that the Urban Music Awards will develop and be hosted in other countries, recognising the invaluable contributions made by urban artists, record labels, producers, DJs and other members of the urban music industry. The awards were created to celebrate the work done by urban artists, and incorporate a variety of music genres such as Jazz, R&B, Neo Soul and Dance.
In London there is a buzz of excitement surrounding the release of the names for the nominees of the 2010 Urban Music Awards. The awards are divided into eighteen different categories and the winners of each category will be honored at a ceremony to be hosted on 18 September 2010. A star studded line-up will be attending this event, and the spectacular talents, Rihanna and Alexandra Burke, were the newest nominees to be released. Some artists, such as Tinie Tempah, have managed to snare a number of nominations in different categories. Some of the categories and nominations released to date are as follows: Best Collaboration – Tinie Tempah ft Labyrinth Pass Out, Chipmunk ft Esmee Denters Until You Were Gone, Alexandra Burke ft Pitbull All Night Long, Taoi Cruz ft Kesha Dirty Picture, Roll Deep ft Jodie Connor Good Times and Professor Green ft Ed Drewett I Need You Tonight; Best Album 2010 – N-Dubz Against All Odds, Jay Sean All Or Nothing, JLS jls, Alexandra Burke Overcome, Chipmunk I Am Chipmunk, Plan B The Defamation of Strickland Bank; Best DJ 2010 – MistaJam, Swerve, Masterstepz, Shortee Blitz & DJ MK, Semtex; Best Dance Act – Calvin Harris, Pendulum Propane Nightmares, Cascada, Faithless Not Going Home, TC Where’s My Money and DJ Zinc ft Ms Dynamite Wile Out.
Other categories for the Urban Music Awards include Best Gospel Act 2010, Best European Act, Best Group 2010, Best Newcomer, Best International Act, Best R&B Act, Best Hip Hop Act, Best Street Dance Group 2010, Best Asian Act, Best Music Video, Best TV Station 2010, Best Radio Station, Best Producer and Best Radio Show. The 2010 Urban Music Awards will feature a stellar line-up of artist and industry members, as well as give recognition and pay tribute to the winners of the categories.
