Wealthiest Players in UK Music Industry
There are a number of people in the United Kingdom music industry that certainly do not feel the pinch when the price of living increases. The names of the top fifty richest music industry members of the United Kingdom were recently released by The Sunday Times. The most talked about industry member who has managed to increase his wealth tremendously over the last year is Simon Cowell. Even though he has not found himself at the top of the list yet, his earnings have increased by a staggering £35 million, pushing his worth up to £200 million.
Last year, Clive Calder found himself in second position on the list, but as Edgar Bronfman has returned to New York, he now holds the first position with a worth of £1.3 billion. Most of his money was earned when he sold Zomba Records. With a worth of £680 million, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber finds himself in second position, while in third, Sir Cameron Mackintosh (theatre producer), has earned £675 million. Sir Paul McCartney’s £495 million gained him a fourth position in the rankings, followed by Simon Fuller with £375 million, Simon Cowell jumped into the top ten with £200 million, Sir Mick Jagger in seventh with £190 million, Sir Elton John in eighth position with £185 million, Sting at number nine with £180 million and Keith Richards taking the last slot in the top ten earners.
The listing of top earners under the age of thirty has also been released, with artist Katherine Jenkins taking the lead with £13 million. Not too far behind her, the ladies have been dominating this list with performers Leona Lewis, Katie Melua and Cheryl Cole all having earned £12 million. New comer Adele has found herself in ninth position on the listings, earning £6 million. Charlotte Church, Duffy, Joss Stone and Florence Welch also made it into the top ten earners of this list. Adele, Duffy, Amy Winehouse, Natasha Beddingfield and Lily Allen all had to share ninth position, as they all earned the same. None-the-less, it seems that the ladies have truly taken over this listing, and all will be waiting to see what next year will bring.
