Join in the Vibe of the V Festival 2008

Though it is still a few months away, music lovers in England are no doubt already gearing up for the 2008 V Festival. This year’s festival is set to take place on August 16th and 17th and has a mind-blowing line-up of top-notch acts. The only difficult part will be deciding which venue to choose.

What makes the V Festival so unique is the fact that it is held simultaneously at two different locations. The festival was established by music group Pulp in 1995 after front man Jarvis Cocker decided that he liked the idea of playing at two outdoor venues in two days. The idea quickly became a reality when the band’s promoters set about establishing the first V Festival. A venue was chosen in both the north and the south of England to give fans in both parts of the country a chance to see the band. Soon more bands were added to the bill and so the festival became a massive two-day affair. Event organizers have never looked back.

For the past few years the venues of choice for the V Festival have been Hylands Park in Chelmsford and Weston Park in Staffordshire. Both estates are large enough to cater to the demands of the festival and are popular with festival goers. The ‘V’ is representative of the Virgin Group and the festival is sponsored by Virgin Mobile. Virgin Radio also acts as the official radio station for the event. While the festival line-up is made up mostly of rock acts, it tries to showcase a mixture of both British and international acts while at the same time providing an opportunity for up-and-coming bands to expand their market. The V Festival 2008 line-up is still being organized, but so far confirmed acts include: the Stereophonics, Alanis Morissette, The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Lenny Kravitz, Girls Aloud, Prodigy, Duffy, Kaiser Chiefs, One Republic, Sugarbabes, The Chemical Brothers, The Charlatans, Travis and many, many more.

The popularity of the event can be seen in the fact that this year’s tickets were sold out in just 90 minutes after being made available for sale. More tickets have been released since the sell-out but it seems that these are moving fast too. You may struggle to get your hands on some tickets for yourself but you can be sure with a line-up like this, every effort will be completely worth it.
