Bruce Springsteen Keynote Speaker at SXSW

Next year’s South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW) will be taking place from 9 to 18 March 2012. It was recently announced the renowned singer and musician Bruce Springsteen will be the keynote speaker, addressing the audience on 15 March 2012 from the stage at the Austin Convention Center in Texas.

SXSW consists of three festivals: the Interactive Festival (9 to 13 March 2012), the Film Festival (9 to 17 March 2012), and the Music Festival (13 to 18 March 2012). SXSW was established in 1987 and aims to inspire and educate through various events. The Austin Convention Center is the hub of music activities, including music panels, speeches, interviews and workshops. The music festival boasts 90 stages in downtown Austin, with more than 2,000 acts performing. There is also a Music Gear Expo and Flatstock, which features music related art and posters. The 2012 South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival will be an all-encompassing event, that shouldn’t be missed by music enthusiasts.

Organizers of the SXSW event are extremely pleased to have Bruce Springsteen as the keynote speaker, as he has gained worldwide fame through his time-tested recordings. Springsteen, who has just announced that he will be releasing a new album, received his first guitar at the age of thirteen. He released his first album, called “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.”, in 1973; however, it was only with the release of “Born to Run” in 1975 that he shot to stardom. Since then Bruce Springsteen has sold millions of albums and had many Top Ten singles. Springsteen has been the recipient of numerous Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, an Emmy, an Academy Award, the 1997 Polar Music Prize, the Critic’s Choice Award and others. He has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame and New Jersey Hall of Fame.

Other members of the music industry to deliver the SXSW keynote speech have included Neil Yong, Johnny Cash, Robert Plant, Quincy Jones, Lucinda Williams, Bob Geldof, Carl Perkins and Smokey Robinson.
