Girl Talk on Tour through US and Canada

Girl Talk fans in the U.S. and Canada are no doubt thrilled at the prospect of seeing off-beat musician, Gregg Gillis, live on stage during his extensive tour beginning in Boulder, Colorado on 11 July 2008. Girl Talk has garnered quite a following since the release of his first album, “Secret Diary”, in 2002. His latest offering, “Feed the Animals”, has been well received by fans and critics alike, giving fans a good idea of what to expect as far as the music goes, but as far as Girl Talk’s live stage performance is concerned, fans can expect the unexpected.

Girl Talk takes the art of sample-based remixes to a new level, creating a new song by blending more than a dozen elements taken from different songs and different genres. Girl Talk earned notoriety for his over-the-top, clothes-stripping antics on stage during his early performances, and while this may or may not be repeated during his upcoming tour, fans can be sure that the evening will be memorable.

Gregg Gillis was born on 26 October 1981 and is currently based in Pittsburgh. While he was a student at Case Western Reserve University, Gillis began making music and soon found that he had a talent for entertaining the crowds. Gillis himself has offered different explanations for the origin of his unusual stage name, reportedly saying that it was inspired by a Jim Morrison poem, while at another time saying that it alluded to an early side project of Merzbow – a Japanese noise music project.

Girl Talk has released four albums through record label Illegal Art, being “Secret Diary” (2002), “Unstoppable” (2004), “Night Ripper” (2006) and “Feed the Animals” (2008). He has also released a number of EPs.
