First Sunset Strip Music Festival
If you live anywhere in California, you have likely already experienced the legendary Sunset Strip for yourself. This 1.3 mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard is known for its great night clubs, rock clubs and restaurants – all of which are in walking distance of each other. It was here that the clubs gave birth to a memorable musical revolution that made the Strip legendary. Today cutting-edge musical talents are still on display in the clubs that make up Sunset Strip.
The area’s rich musical history will be celebrated for the first time ever in 2008 when the first annual Sunset Strip Music Festival is held. The festival is a three day event that will take place from 26 to 28 June, and it promises to offer fans and festival-goers a sizzling, contemporary atmosphere. The festival’s main goal is to promote, perpetuate and preserve the Sunset Strip experience, and you can be sure that it will see this small corner of West Hollywood come alive on all three nights. Notorious clubs and theatres, such as the Whisky A-Go-Go, the House of Blues, the Roxy, the Key Club, the Cat Club and the Viper Room, have all united for the festival and will serve as the primary venues for the event. Organizers estimate that the event will draw roughly 9000 consumers, fans and VIPS. Once the festival starts, those present can expect to be moved by popular music from both the past and present. The Sunset Strip Music Festival will start at the House of Blues on June 26 with a celebrity kick-off event that will be hosted by Mark McGrath and pay tribute to a number of icons in the music industry who have played a pivotal role in keeping Sunset Strip alive, before ending in a massive musical performance.
Friday and Saturday will be filled with great performances by a variety of top acts. The line-up will feature some of today’s most recognizable artists and is sure to appeal to almost everyone. One of the main highlights for Saturday is the “Icon Roundtable” discussion which will be moderated by Larry King. King will be interviewing the iconic figures that have ensured the longevity of the Strip and the audience will include industry experts and music legends. The interview will precede the final big bash where fans, musicians and industry experts will all make the most of the evening and party the night away. The lineup for the festival is still being finalized, but you can check the festival’s official website for more information.
