John Lennon Birthday Tribute

No-one will ever forget the day the world lost John Lennon. It was a day that shook the music industry and broke the hearts of many fans around the world. His legacy and memory have been kept alive through his music and loyal fans still listen to his famous songs and pay tribute to him on anniversaries. If John Lennon had lived, he would have been getting ready to celebrate his 70th birthday on 9 October 2010, so in his absence his widow, Yoko Ono, and EMI have re-mastered some of his greatest hits to allow the world to celebrate his life and relive the magic of John Lennon.

A magnificent eleven disc album collection will be released on the 5th of October and will feature eight of his solo albums. Fans will be able to listen to Milk and Honey, John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band, Mind Games, Rock ‘n Roll, Double Fantasy Stripped Down, Imagine, Walls and Bridges and Some Time In New York City. The entire collection will be called the John Lennon Signature Box, and fans will be astounded by the sound produced on the Gimme Some Truth discs. It will be a four disc anthology, and together Yoko Ono and EMI have selected some of the greatest hits produced by Lennon and re-mastered them. The Double Fantasy Stripped album is also very special, as the technology used to create this album has enhanced his vocals and given the songs a raw and original feel to them. Yoko Ono commented: “Technology has advanced so much that, conversely, I wanted to use new techniques to really frame these amazing songs and John’s voice as simply as possible. It was whilst working on the new version of this album that I was hit hardest emotionally, as this was the last album John released before his passing”.

The box set will also include a hardbound book that reveals a side of John Lennon that his fans did not get to see, through artwork created by this talented musician, his poetry and personal photographs. Fans will find another special feature in the box set, namely a bonus disc with never before heard tracks, the songs that were not recorded for albums. This spectacular tribute to one of the music industry’s greatest icons is a truly rare gift for fans.
