Status Quo Re-enter the Limelight
After more than four decades of popular music, the group known as Status Quo have decided to celebrate their legendary status with a massive auction, tour and album release. The festivities will include a number of never-before-seen or experienced occurrences that will absolutely thrill die-hard fans.
Status Quo is an English rock band that officially got started in late 1967 as โThe Status Quoโ, though the short name โStatus Quoโ only became official in 1970. Prior to that the bandโs founders, Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster, were involved in a band known as โThe Scorpionsโ and it was really from those early origins that Status Quo grew, starting with the success of their โPictures Of Matchstick Menโ single. Status Quo has achieved the noteworthy accomplishment of recording more chart hits in the UK than any other rock group in history โ more than 60! Little wonder then that more than forty years after they got started, Status Quo is still going incredibly strong. Before the end of the year is up, the group is looking forward to unleashing one massive party dedicated to their years of success.
One of the biggest treats of the celebration will be the release of the โPictures: 40 Years Of Hitsโ multi-format music collection which will feature music from all periods of their long and successful chart career. The collection will be released on at least six different formats, including a 4CD EarBook, a 3CD collection of rarities and performances on DVD, a 2CD version, a USB version, a Vinyl version and a Digital version. The Pictures: 40 Years Of Hits compilation will be released on November 3 through UMTV. A further treat for fans will be the release of the bandโs first ever Christmas single, โItโs Christmas Timeโ. However what fans will probably be looking forward to the most will be the massive UK Winter tour. The tour will feature state-of-the-art stage backdrops, classic Quo moments and a new one-off setlist. The resulting shows will be almost unimaginable! The 2008 40 Years Of Hits UK Tour will kick off on Saturday, September 27, at City Hall in Newcastle, and will end at Bournemouth BIC on Tuesday, December 23.
