The Charlatans Announce Tour to Compliment New Single
British alternative rock band The Charlatans are getting ready to hit their home country with a massive tour. The tour will compliment the release of their new single “Oh! Vanity”, which will be available from Monday, October 20th.
The Charlatans first formed in 1989 and released their debut single “Indian Rope” in 1990. It wasn’t long before “Indian Rope” was a massive indie hit and so when the group was able to release their second single “The Only One I Know”, it soared into the Top 10 on the UK singles chart very quickly. Their instant likeability lead to instant popularity and since then the band has been hard at work establishing themselves as one of the major players on the British music scene. Since those early years they have managed to have nine Top 10 albums – three of which were number one – and 22 Top 40 singles.
The new single “Oh! Vanity” comes from the group’s highly acclaimed “You Cross My Path” album, which will soon be available on CD Single, download and 7” vinyl. Getting the CD single will definitely be worth it as it will make you privy to some exclusive bonus tracks by The Charlatans. However the best part of the new release will be the tour that will see the group make their way across the UK. If you’re a fan of the band you simply have to make sure that you catch at least one of their live performances. They will be kicking off their tour on October 1st in Belfast at The Spring & Airbrake before moving on to Dolan’s Warehouse in Limerick (Oct 2). The Academy in Dublin (Oct 3) is the next stop on their list, followed by Hull University on October 5th. Warrington Parr Hall will no doubt host a great show (Oct 6), but unfortunately for those who don’t have tickets the show at Southend Chinnerys (Oct 8) is already sold out.
On October 9 The Charlatans will be playing in Portsmouth at the Portsmouth & Southsea Festival, before moving on to The Picture House in Edinburgh on Oct 11. From there they’ll move on to Stirling Albert Halls in Stirling (Oct 12), the Paisley Town Hall (Oct 13), The Ironworks in Inverness (Oct 14), Fat Sams in Dundee (Oct 16), 53 Degrees in Preston (Oct 17), Astoria in London (Oct 18) and Leeds Academy (Oct 20). Tickets for the majority of the shows are already on sale so book yours now to make sure that you don’t miss out!
