Coachella and Stagecoach Music Festivals

Music festival fans are no doubt delighted by the news that Indio’s city council has approved the proposal by Goldenvoice to continue staging the popular Coachella and Stagecoach annual music festivals in the city of Indio, California, through to 2030. Moreover, it has been agreed that Goldenvoice can stage an additional two concerts per year, bringing the total number of concerts to five – three in the spring and two in the fall. This latest development puts to rest the controversy caused by a proposed tax on concert-goers which had organizers scouting for a new venue, and while some citizens of Indio would prefer not to have the concerts in their neighborhoods, the economic benefit of hosting the increasingly popular events appears to have outweighed any concerns raised.

Embracing a wide range of music genres – rock, indie, hip hop, electronic and more – Coachella 2013 will be taking place on the weekends of April 12-14 and April 19-21, with spectacular line-ups for both weekends, including Bat for Lashes, Baauer, Aesop Rock, Allen Stone, Band of Horses, Bingo Players, Cassy, Deap Vally, Dillon Francis, Father John Misty, Grimes, Grinderman, Jake bugg, Infected Mushroom, Janelle Monae, Johnny Marr, Jurassic 5, Jessie Ware, Mario Cotto, Lord Huron, Palma Violets, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Raymond Roker, Rodriguez, Smith Westerns, The Stone Roses, The Wombats, Tnight, Violent Femmes, Zane Lowe, Youth Lagoon, Yeasayer and many more.

Promoted as “California’s Country Music Festival”, StageCoach will take place on April 26-28 with a line-up that includes Becky Stark, Blue Sky Riders, Brett Shady, Brown Bird, Connie Smith, Charley Pride, Don Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Haunted Windchimes, Joe Nichols, Jeff Bridges & The Abiders, Justin Townes Earle, Lady Antebellum, Lonestar, Riders in the Sky, Suzy Bogguss, Zac Brown Band, Waddie Mitchell, The Lone Bellow and Tanya Tucker, to mention a few.

Both festivals have on and off-site camping, along with loads of activities for all ages, and are committed to being eco-friendly. Be sure to make plans to be there!
